Zhong Wenlong

Zhong Wenlong is a calligrapher dedicated to the classical regular-script tradition, trained under the renowned master Lu Zhongnan. His bold large-character writing (bangshu) combines disciplined Tang-dynasty structure with fluent, confident brushwork — and his works have been commissioned by UNESCO, Harvard University and major cultural institutions. Artist Introduction Zhong Wenlong (钟文龙) was born in January 1968 and holds a bachelor’s degree in art education. He currently serves as Secretary-General of the Meiyu China Culture and Sports Carnival organising committee of the China Care for the Next Generation Working Committee, a guest professor at Jinan University, a council member of the China (Laoshan) Taoist Painting and Calligraphy Academy, and a contract artist of several galleries and art organisations in Qingdao. He showed a talent for calligraphy in childhood, and became a student of the celebrated regular-script master Lu Zhongnan, inheriting his teacher’s dedication to Tang-dynasty regular script — with particular excellence in large-character writing. His calligraphy carries forward the essence of Lu’s style: attention to rhythmic flow, fluent brushwork and rigorous composition.
