Zhang Hui (张辉)
Zhang Hui – Chinese Painter
About the Artist
Zhang Hui is a figure painter of the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts tradition, known for two contrasting worlds: realistic portraits of the weathered people of the Guanzhong plains, and lyrical ink paintings of ancient scholars. His work is sincere, deeply human and grounded in a serious conviction that painting is a calling, not an entertainment.
Artist Introduction
Zhang Hui (张辉) graduated from the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, and furthered his studies at Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts & Design and the China National Academy of Painting. He is a member of the Chinese Art Society, a contract artist of the National Art Network, a senior committee member of the China Painting and Calligraphy Academy, a council member of the Beijing Xicheng District Calligraphers Association, a painter of the Shaanxi Academy of Painting and Calligraphy, a council member of the Shaanxi Provincial Artists Association, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of the Weinan Municipal Artists Association, and President of the Zhongtian Academy of Painting. Zhang Hui is a creation-driven painter who rarely repeats himself; for him, painting is a responsibility, creation a vocation, and exploration a mission. His figure painting moves between two subjects: the realistic people of Guanzhong — their weathered, sun-darkened faces etched with toil, fused with the loess plateau itself — and the idealised, lyrical world of ancient literati, whose free-spirited ease offers a spiritual release from the rush of modern life. His portraits of children carry hope, as if the clouds above the plateau might bring fresh air to an ancient civilisation. His works are exhibited and collected across China, and he is also a dedicated educator, holding professorships and leading the art association of Weinan High-tech Zone.
Works Appreciation

Application Scenarios
Zhang Hui’s paintings bring genuine human warmth to homes and studies — his scholar paintings suit contemplative interiors, while his Guanzhong portraits speak to collectors of contemporary Chinese realism. His originality and seriousness make his works a distinctive, sincere choice for those seeking art with soul.
