About the Artist
Du Shanhe is a Qingdao-based landscape and flower-and-bird painter whose works celebrate the mountains and coast of Shandong — from the sacred peaks of Laoshan to the city’s celebrated seascapes. A member of the Shandong Provincial Artists Association and Vice-President of the Qingdao Chinese Painting Society, he has been honoured in national exhibitions from the China Artists Association to the Louvre.
Artist Introduction

Du Shanhe (杜山河) is a professional painter and member of the Shandong Provincial Artists Association, Vice-President of the Qingdao Chinese Painting Society, a council member of the Qingdao Artists Association, President of the Laoshan District Artists Association, and Vice-President of the Qingdao Modern Blue-Green Landscape Painting Academy. Between 2016 and 2018 he held several solo exhibitions of landscape sketches and of Qingdao scenery. His hundred-metre scroll “Qingdao Scenery” was awarded the Qingdao Municipal Literary Excellence Support Project in 2022, following his earlier hundred-metre Laoshan scroll “Green Water and Verdant Mountains” (2020–2021). His works have been selected for major national exhibitions organised by the China Artists Association, including the “China Dream, Mount Huangshan Soul” national landscape exhibition (“The Green Mountain Does Not Speak”, 2015), the 8th National “Hundred Flowers” Chinese Painting Exhibition (“Splendid Lake and Mountain”, 2014), and the “Auspicious Grassland” national exhibition (“Auspicious Clouds in the Garden”, 2014). His “Idle Talk in the Autumn Mountains” won the Best Creation Award for Chinese painting at the Sino-French Art Exchange Exhibition at the Louvre in 2012, and his “Mountain Dwelling” won an excellence award at the 6th National Contemporary Landscape Exhibition in 2009. In 2019 he published his personal album “Meeting the Ancient in Spirit” and held a joint calligraphy and painting exhibition with the noted calligrapher Zhang Fengtang.
