About the Artist
Xu Jinghui is a Beijing calligrapher honoured with international awards, whose works blend classical tradition with contemporary expression. A vice-chairman of the Shijingshan District Calligraphers Association and an active cultural figure, he is known for fine calligraphy that serves both art and public life — from exhibitions to inscriptions and plaques.
Artist Introduction
Xu Jinghui (徐景辉), born in Beijing in 1956, is a member of the Beijing Calligraphers Association, Vice-Chairman of the Shijingshan District Calligraphers Association, a member of the Chinese Couplet Society and its Calligraphy Committee, and a member of the China Hard-Pen Calligraphy Association. In 1996 he won the only gold medal for calligraphy at the Busan International Art Exhibition in South Korea. His works have been selected for the 4th National New Talent Calligraphy Exhibition and the 1st National Large-Character Calligraphy Exhibition of the China Calligraphers Association, the Beijing International Calligraphy Biennale (2005, 2009, 2011, 2012), and the “Zhongzheng Hehe” national exhibition supporting Beijing’s Central Axis World Heritage application in 2020. He has won first prizes in the Beijing Television Calligraphy Competition (2006, 2008), the Beijing Workers’ Calligraphy, Painting and Photography Exhibition (2009) and the 8th Capital Workers’ Culture and Art Festival (2011). His collection “Selected Calligraphy of Xu Jinghui” was published by the Federation of Literary and Art Circles Press in 2007, with a second collection published by the People’s Daily Press in 2014. In 2016 the TV programme “Doing Good in the World” aired a feature on his art, and in 2026 he was commissioned to write the plaque and couplet columns for the Jiang Ancestral Hall in Zhejiang. In December 2000 he inscribed the “Jingxi Ancient Road” steles for the historic Moshikou village.
