Zhang Tongyan Calligraphy | Yun Hu You Tian, Qun Hong Xi Hai
Artwork Objective Critique & Comments
Authentic calligraphy by Zhang Tongyan: “Yun Hu You Tian, Qun Hong Xi Hai” — the classical praise of Zhong Yao’s transcendent brushwork, rendered on a horizontal scroll.
Description
Product Overview
This is an original calligraphy work by Zhang Tongyan, a celebrated contemporary Chinese calligrapher. The artwork bears the eight-character phrase 雲鵠游天,群鴻戲海 (Yun hu you tian, qun hong xi hai) — “Like clouds and swans roaming the sky, and flocks of wild geese sporting over the sea.” Emperor Wu of Liang first used these words to praise the transcendent, natural grace of the great calligrapher Zhong Yao; Zhang Tongyan now renders them in bold, dignified brushwork on a horizontal scroll. Ideal for halls, studies and tea rooms, and a premium cultural collectible.
