Liu Jinkai (刘金凯)
Liu Jinkai – Chinese Calligrapher
About the Artist
Liu Jinkai is a leading figure in contemporary Chinese calligraphy, having served as Vice-Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association and as Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Calligraphers Association for a decade. His writing embodies a disciplined classical foundation, a strong sense of contemporary aesthetics, and the scholarly conviction that character and craft must be cultivated together.
Artist Introduction

Liu Jinkai (刘金凯) was born in 1957 and holds the professional title of senior editor. He formerly served as Vice-Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association and Director of its Industry Development Committee, and as Chairman of the Hebei Provincial Calligraphers Association for ten years. He is also a member of the Hebei Provincial Government Research Institute of Culture and History, a master’s supervisor at the Art College of Hebei University, and a tutor at the Renmin University of China calligraphy research programme, and has served as a juror for national-level calligraphy exhibitions. His works have been selected for numerous national exhibitions and collected by major institutions including the National Museum of China. Under his leadership, the Hebei Calligraphers Association hosted five national calligraphy exhibitions and established provincial brands such as the mass calligraphy exhibition and the farmers’ calligraphy exhibition, helping transform Hebei into one of China’s strongest calligraphy provinces. Liu holds that a true calligrapher must study ancient methods, cultivate personal character alongside artistic skill, digest tradition into personal expression, and write with the spirit and aesthetics of his own time.
