An Wenli: Calligraphy of Gansu’s Leading Woman Ink Artist
An Wenli is a director of the China Calligraphers Association and chair of the Gansu Calligraphers Association. Her prize-winning regular script has been collected by the National Art Museum of China, the National Museum of China and the National Museum of Chinese Writing—among the highest honors a calligrapher can receive.

Since beginning her calligraphy practice in 1988, An has won first prize at the graduation exhibition of the China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University, and third prizes at the fourth Dunhuang Art exhibition, the provincial young-and-middle-aged calligraphy exhibition, the third and fourth national women’s calligraphy and seal exhibitions, and the first national large-character calligraphy exhibition. Her regular script balances stele-inspired structure with a warm, approachable grace. Her work has appeared in leading journals including *Chinese Calligraphy* and *Calligraphy*.

The selection below spans classical couplets, epitaph copies and settings of Tang and Song poetry, showing the poise and clarity that define her hand.
